"This is the full-length debut from a female-fronted Pittsburgh Americana band that takes its inspiration from the likes of Lake Street Dive and Fleetwood Mac. The strength of the band, formed in 2018, is in the lovely three-part harmonies of Gail Hofbauer, Liz Thompson and Hannah McGovern. They top a rootsy sound highlighted by McGovern’s melodic fiddle playing. ... The album, produced by Jake Hanner, of Donora, and mastered by Pete Lyman (Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell), took more than a year, and the production is first-rate ... If all goes well, Woodland Creatures will follow Buffalo Rose as another breakout AAA band from Pittsburgh."
- Scott Mervis of Pittsburgh Post Gazette
"Merry violin, good times, and a captivating and throaty vocal. “No time for looking behind.” This is a perfect blend." - Americana Highways (Review of single, "No Time")
"Lay It All Down" was featured on the Randy Baumann and the DVE Morning Show on March 31st. Follow this link to listen to the recorded show (our part is at 2 hours 40 min).
"Woodland Creatures' alluring mix of multiple harmonies, fiddle and guitars stopped me in my tracks last year at the Deutschtown Music Festival on Pittsburgh's North Side. I immediately began plotting to get them to play Beaver County. The new album, "Lay It All Down," deserves radio attention. Especially "No Time," with its message of life's too short to stay fixated on "the rear-view mirror." The overall theme of 'Lay It All Down' is just what the title says: it's about putting our troubles to the side, living in the moment, enjoying life, and staying hopeful."
- Scott Tady of The Beaver County Times
"A moody, ominous Americana track that smolders like the charred remains of an industrial sprawl that's just finished immolating." - Bored in Pittsburgh (Review of single, "Keep On Running")
"Amazing vocals, and I love the guitar riffs. Overall, this song is pretty much perfection."
- Review of "Keep On Running" by Kristen Goetz, From the Strait Creator and Writer
"Arrangement is simple, but with attention to detail. I really liked the string interventions, especially during the chorus
and the Irish-flavored violin solo. Careful production both in the mix and editing. Very good vocal harmonies (nice ending where they remain alone)....The songwriting is fresh and the melody grows listen after listen..."
